Focus on one writing project/piece at a time and do it to completion. There are countless writing ideas and endless subjects to think about. If you try to multitask, chances are you get overwhelmed easily and end up with a bunch of started, but never finished work.
Work and write from moments of inspiration. This allows for hardcore concentration and getting things done effectively. Ride the wave of inspiration. Inspiration only last a day. If you sit on it, then you lose its energy.
Always have resources at hand! This ties back to #2 because whenever you have moments of inspiration, you need the materials like paper and pen to write or a computer. So keep them with you at all times.
Write on timeless truths and write from the heart. Write on materials that can withstand the test of time and write on something that you care deeply about.
Write it and rewrite it again!!! If you write it once on paper, rewrite it again on a word document on a computer. This refreshes the mind on certain topics, adds organization and even structure to the writings.
Speed writing and freestyle writing. At times when you experience writer’s block, try to add a writing segment based upon time based writings. You set a timer for like 5-10 minutes and just let the writing flow out naturally, and without stop. The point is to focus on non-stop output.
Energy level writing. Write based on your energy level. If you are tired, try to write things that don’t require you to think much such as rewriting what you wrote from paper to computer. But when you are energetic, tackle some long writing projects.
Environmental reinforcement in writing. Look for the right setting to write. This can be a quite place, or a noisy one. It all depends on your personal preferences. Use music to create the right setting and mood.
No limit writings. Disregard grammar, disregard structure, disregard spellings, disregard everything and just write. Repeat phrases 100 times! Do insane things! Be incredibly creative!
Take real breaks between writings. Instead of browsing the websites, social media, or getting your mind filled up with more thoughts, try to turn your brain off. This means taking a short nap, closing your eyes and breathing deeply for like 10 minutes or anything of that sort. Relax often to be more motivated during work hours.
Get in the mood to write. One of the things I do to write is to put myself in the mindset to write. I would open up my diary or anything and just start writing. After a few minutes, I would switch to whatever idea that I was writing about. The simple act of getting into action can spark the initial momentum to keep on writing.
Use imaginative settings. Picture yourself speaking before an audience or having a genuine conversation with someone you always wanted to talk to. If you have things you never got a chance to say, there is a really high chance you can create a writing piece from them.
